Tuesday 15/9 Dogs Day Out

Another good nights sleep was followed by a lovely breakfast with Debbie the wife of our host. We once hit the road quite early, leaving Manchester at about8.30am. We again had a lovely room in the attic of a beautiful old Victorian home. We had started to learn that carrying heavy suitcases up 3 flights of steps was a bit challenging so now we just put our toiletries, fresh clothes for the following day and pj's  in our backback with any other gear we need and take that.....much easier! We drove to the Lakes District National Park and our first stop was at Windermere located on the edge of the magnificent Lake Windermere. We parked the car and walked back to a spot where ferries and boats were departing on scenic cruises around the lake. We decided that one of these would be well worth the money and spent a lovey 45 minutes on a boat soaking up the incredible beauty of this place. Now to digress a little. Many people here have dogs and everywhere you go businesses leave out drinking bowls for the dogs. People are always out walking their dogs and they seem to go everywhere. Rob was a bit
surprised when a dog was allowed on the boat cruise and later again when we were having a drink in a bar and a dog came into the bar. Both dogs were on leads though!

Later we drove through the middle of the National park and was astounded by it's beauty. Unfortunately soon it was time to move onto our next stop, Kendal. We needed to do some washing and found a perfect laundromat across the road from an old pub. Unfortunately the laundromat didn’t sell powder so then we had to get in the car and go shopping for some. Got some at the  £1 shop.....just like our "Cheap as Chips". Whilst waiting for our laundry to finish we were able to have a drink. From there we went to our next B&B. Another beautiful terraced house owned by John and Lin. They had 2 young boys and were most entertaining. After settling in we walked into town for dinner at a tapas restaurant. Once back at our accommodation I headed for bed and Rob went downstairs for a chin-wag with John and Lin.
