The Bath University was having an open day and it was also a special weekend for Jane Austin celebrations but after about 15 minutes of slow progress we made it to the carpark. We then headed off to the Roman Baths in the centre of the town. Ruth had suggested we walk into the centre of the town via the Royal Crescent and The Circus. Both of these were spectacular Georgian buildings. On our walk we saw many people who were dressed in period costumes and looked as though they had just stepped out of a Jane Austin novel. We bought our tickets and entered the area of the Roman Baths. We were both amazed at what we saw and the self guided tour was worth every cent. We had audio sets and you could type a number in at different spots and get excellent commentary regarding the things you were looking at. We spent at least 2 hours in the Roman Baths. After our visit we did some more walking and stopped for some lunch. Steve and Ruth met up with us after lunch and we went to the Museum of Architecture. Ruth and I enjoyed looking at the display and the boys enjoyed having a great chin-wag. Rob drove us back to Melksham with Steve directing him around Bath so we saw more of the amazing buildings and beautiful landscapes. Once back in Melksham, Steve and Ruth took us to their favourite, local Indian restaurant. We had a fabulous night out! Wonderful food and wonderful company. Rob even found a lovely dish that suited him. Back Steve and Ruth's home we watched the end of the last of the Proms on tv.
