This is the town that my Grandparents on my Mum's side had come from. We had lunch here and walked around the town and visited the cemetery. Rob went searching on google for the name of my great, great grandfather and his name was mentioned in a church cemetery in a tiny village called Nympsfield. This village was only about 20 minutes away and we decided to head to it. We found the church and the cemetery. The church was 850 years old! The connection with my great, great, grandfather was that his first wife had died at the age of 21 in 1860 and was buried with her infant son. My great, great grandfather's name was on the headstone as being the husband. He had obviously remarried after this tragedy and had a large family with his second wife, my great, great grandmother and was not buried at this cemetery. After all this searching fun, we headed for Gloucester and our next B&B. This B&B is located on a canal and our host Tony is a very interesting man. He has a beautiful vegmie and fruit garden in his backyard and the front of his house faces the canal. Once we had settled in we went for a short walk along the canal and found the local pub. We both had a refreshing drink and then went for a rather long walk along the canal. We returned to the pub and had tea there.

Helen finding heritage
Sunday 13/9

After another very comfortable night it was time to leave Melksham and the lovely, generous Ruth and Steve. It was so kind of them to put us up in their home rather than us having to find an expensive B&B near Bath. We had an absolute ball staying with them and really hope we can return the favour one day in the future. We drove through the Cotswold region and stopped in the town of Cirecester for a walk and a coffee. We then headed for Dursley.
